The focus on creating a loving relationship is usually external -- we focus on finding the perfect "other", soul mate, or life partner. We've been brainwashed to think the perfect relationship involves roses, dining out, candy and romance.
However, perhaps the perfect relationship starts with the one we have with our own self. Perhaps we need to "romance" our own self and establish a basic loving relationship with our inner self.
Once we reach the point that we love and accept our own self unconditionally, then we can attract to ourselves the "perfect mirror" that "other" who not only loves and accepts him or herself unconditionally, but will be able to reflect the same to us. So the first step to create a loving relationship is to reconnect with our own true self and develop unconditional love and acceptance for our own self.
